ETSI Architects nominated for the EUmies Awards 2026 for The Teloneio, Kardamyli

We are delighted to share that ETSI Architects has been nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Awards 2026 for The Teloneio, Kardamyli.

About the EUmies Awards

The EUmies Awards are the European Union’s leading recognition for built architecture, organised by the European Commission and Fundació Mies van der Rohe with support from Creative Europe. The 2026 cycle brings together 410 works from 40 countries and 143 regions. A shortlist of 40 will be announced in January 2026, finalists in February 2026, and the winners in April 2026. The EUmies Awards Days in Barcelona follow on 11–12 May 2026.

What the prize celebrates: excellence in architecture as a cultural, civic, and environmental project, and the public value of quality design.

Our nominated project: The Teloneio, Kardamyli

The Teloneio is a careful reimagining of an 18th-century customs house in Kardamyli as a contemporary family home. Working with our clients and local specialists, we revealed the original stone shell, restored the roofs, brought light and air to the lower levels with small keyhole openings, and created clear connections across two offset volumes and their courtyard. Materials and craft were sourced locally wherever possible, including marble from Itilo and olive wood joinery. The result is a calm domestic sequence that respects Mani’s fortified vernacular while returning a landmark to everyday life.
